Fireshed Partner Spotlight: The Nature Conservancy
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has been working with fire since 1962, when they completed their 1st controlled burn. Partnering with government agencies, Indigenous peoples and others, TNC is actively working to bring the role of fire in nature back into balance and help communities prepare for, manage and live safely with fire. As part of these efforts, staff from TNC have been active with the Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative, lending their extensive experience and expertise to several of the Fireshed committees.
“Colorado is no stranger to the devastating effects of increased wildfires, with the largest fires in our state’s history occurring within the last three years. We know that in order to address the growing threat of large-scale wildfires and longer fire seasons, we need to increase investments in wildfire resilience.” – Carlos Fernández, State Director, TNC in Colorado
