Partner Spotlight: Left Hand Watershed Center
The mission of the Left Hand Watershed Center (Watershed Center) is to protect and restore watersheds for people and the environment using a collaborative and science-based approach.
Established in 2005, the Watershed Center has strong roots in their community and is led by a diverse board of enthusiastic stakeholders. They value science and community, and embrace these values to implement on-the-ground projects. While they maintain their roots in Left Hand Creek Watershed, they also strive to apply locally-developed tools regionally for the benefit of all Front Range watersheds and communities.
As our boundaries have expanded further south on the Front Range, the Watershed Center has been an integral partner within the Fireshed Collaborative. Their staff are actively involved with the Fireshed’s Community Engagement and Outreach Committee, working to build public support and social license for forest treatments within communities along the Colorado Front Range. With support from the Fireshed, the Watershed Center acts as lead coordinating entity of the St. Vrain Forest Health Partnership which aims to increase the pace and scale of forest restoration in the St. Vrain and Left Hand Watersheds.
