Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative Efforts and Partners Featured in High Profile Field Tour

May 12, 2021

On Friday, May 7th, several of the Fireshed partners took U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, and Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse into the field to tour the Cameron Peak Fire (CPF) burn scar. Among other things, the field trip featured a segment about the Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative and landscape-level forest treatments, followed by a segment on Joint Chiefs efforts and impacts on the CPF. The field trip received some press, so you can read more about it at CPR News, the Greeley Tribune, and the Loveland Reporter-Herald.

Thank you to Fireshed partners from the US Forest Service (Reghan Cloudman, Katie Donahue, Aaron Mayville, and James White), NRCS and Fort Collins Conservation District (Sam Adams and Gretchen Reuning), Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed (Jen Kovecses), Colorado State University (Tony Cheng and Bob Sturtevant) and others for organizing, speaking, and building support with decision makers for our collective work.
