Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative Launches Round 4 of the Fireshed Fund

June 30, 2026

The Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative (NCFC) is excited to announce the launch of Round 4 of the Fireshed Fund, continuing a growing investment in community-led efforts to reduce wildfire risk, restore forest health, and build long-term resilience across Northern Colorado.

Supported through generous contributions from Xcel Energy and The Nature Conservancy, Round 4 funding will prioritize projects that implement strategic forest restoration, hazardous fuels reduction, and prescribed fire treatments across the Northern Colorado Fireshed. These investments build upon previous funding rounds that focused on strengthening organizational capacity, partnerships, and readiness, laying the foundation for larger-scale implementation efforts across the region.

The Letter of Intent (LOI) application period opens June 11, 2026, and closes July 31, 2026. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, fire protection districts, and other community-connected organizations working within the Northern Colorado Fireshed geography. Organizations interested in applying are encouraged to review the Round 4 Proposal Guidelines and connect with the NCFC team to discuss project ideas and eligibility.

Projects funded through this round will help increase the pace and scale of forest treatments while supporting NCFC’s collaborative vision of a fire-adapted landscape where communities and ecosystems can thrive alongside wildfire.

Since 2023, the National Forest Foundation (NFF), in partnership with the Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative, has awarded more than $2.4 million to 16 community-connected partners across the region. These investments have strengthened organizational capacity, enhanced partner readiness, and expanded the collaborative’s ability to accelerate forest restoration and wildfire mitigation efforts. Together, these projects are helping increase the pace and scale of forest treatments across the Northern Colorado Fireshed while fostering stronger partnerships and more resilient communities.
