Cedar Park – Sylvan Dale Fuel Reduction Project

Total Project Area: 106 acres
Percent Complete: 84%

This forest thinning project takes place on Sylvan Dale Ranch, which shares a boundary with planned U.S. Forest Service Cedar Park treatments. The targeted treatments have been identified as high risk to drinking water supplies by the Colorado Forest Restoration Institute. The project will reduce fuel loading between the meadow system and the Palisade Mountain ridgeline. In addition to reducing the direct impacts of wildfire, this layout is intended to improve suppression capabilities in the event of a wildfire. Finally, the Sylvan Dale project area includes a historic homestead where defensible space will be created. Residual slash will be disposed of on-site primarily through pile burning.
