Hall Ranch – Nelson Loop

Total Project Area: 853 acres

This is part of a 5-year project to treat 853 acres, with a goal of burning no more than 350 acres per year. During the 5 year timeframe it is desired to burn every acre twice if possible.

 

Project Goals:

  • Reduce hazardous fuels, protecting human communities from extreme fires.
  • Minimize the spread of pest insects and disease.
  • Remove unwanted species that threaten species native to an ecosystem.
  • Provide habitat for foraging wildlife.
  • Improve habitat for threatened and endangered species.
  • Recycle nutrients back to the soil.
  • Promote the growth of trees, wildflowers, and other plants.
