Partner Spotlight: Colorado Forest Restoration Institute

April 26, 2021

Housed in the Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship in Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University, the Colorado Forest Restoration Institute (CFRI) has been engaged in the Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative since 2017. Collaboration is a key component of CFRI’s philosophy of providing actionable, locally relevant, and science-informed solutions to improving forest resilience. CFRI’s director, Dr. Tony Cheng, and staff play several support roles in the NoCo Fireshed, and are engaged through strategic planning, operations planning, monitoring, and adaptive management.

“The NoCo Fireshed is an opportunity to spur new ways of thinking about and acting on ways to better live with fire. CFRI’s engagement exemplifies CSU’s Land Grant mission to advance learning, discovery, and engagement for a more resilient, sustainable world. And there’s no better opportunity than to realize these principles in our own backyard in Northern Colorado.” – Tony Cheng, Director, CFRI
