Fireshed Partner Spotlight: Larimer County Office of Emergency Management
Larimer County’s Office of Emergency Management has been involved with the Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative since 2018, primarily supporting education, communications, and outreach to the public. Additionally, Larimer OEM facilitates the development of the Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, updated every 5 years, and helps to support the implementation of proposed projects where appropriate.
Larimer OEM is a disaster management agency, actively supporting all five phases: Preparedness, Prevention, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery. Additionally, there are three key roles of emergency management in an event: 1.) Providing public information support to the impacted community, 2.) Securing resources and providing support to first responders in the field, and 3.) Coordination of mass care services for impacted community members including sheltering and mass feeding.
Larimer OEM supports the Fireshed in mitigation goals, partnership engagement, and helping to foster and encourage community-led resilience and participation. Learn more about Larimer OEM at: www.larimer.org/emergency
