Partner Spotlight: Estes Valley Watershed Coalition

April 12, 2021

In 2015, Estes Valley Watershed Coalition (EVWC) was formed to help coordinate and implement flood restoration projects following the 2013 flood in Northern Colorado. Flood restoration project areas totaled five miles on the Big Thompson River, Fall River and Fish Creek. EVWC has staff, board and advisory team members with backgrounds in biology, engineering, water treatment and business management.  EVWC continues to bring together landowners, agencies, economic and environmental interests to prepare for future events and protect the waters, forests, and wildlife in the Estes Valley.

EVWC is focusing on efforts to promote forest health along with collaborating with partners such as our local Fire District, forest agencies, and many other partners. The current Marys Lake Forest Health Project and Estes Valley Community Wildfire Protetion Plan (CWPP) update are the first of many forest health projects we plan to undertake in the future.
