Guided Wildflower Hike in a Thinned and Burned Forest

Are you curious about the effects of forest management and fire in Colorado forests?

Join USFS botanist Carlee Andringa and research scientist Paula Fornwalt on a 3.5-mile easy/moderate hike in Red Feather Lakes, an area which was mechanically thinned in 2016 and 2019 and broadcast burned in 2023. As we walk, your attention will be called to wildflowers along the trail while guides discuss forest management, fire, and regeneration.
